Japan Crate Update

I no longer subscribe to Japan Crate. I've found Asian markets that sells a good amount of the items Japan Crate provides monthly.

Since purchasing my Japanese snacks there, it is no longer worth paying $30 for a monthly premium subscription.

I finally got my Japan Crate (after emailing them)! I think whenever it's the last month of your subscription, they forget?

Let's move along with the box, shall we?

August 2015 First Look

Table of Contents (Pages 0-1)

August 2015 Comic (Pages 2-3)

August 2015 Item Content (Pages 4-5)

Information on Cracking Cotton and Crayon Shin-Chan Candy (Pages 6-7)

August 2015 Sugoi Crate (Pages 8-9)

Chocoron DIY and Obon Festaival (Pages 10-11)

Mini Item Contents:

Chocolate Pucca (Meiji Pucca Chocolate): On the back of the box, there's a comic (too bad I don't know Japanese).  Chocolate filled biscuits.

Crackling Cotton (Meiji Watapachi Grape): There's also a comic on the back! It's basically pop rocks in cotton candy. Tastes good actually.

Soy Sauce Pretz (Glico Pretz Shoyu Tare): This is a first.

Mario Kart Gum (Top Mario Kart 8 Tsurisage Gum): There are ten pieces, and it sort of taste like those ramune candies, but they barely have any flavor.

Original Item Content:

Chocoroom DIY (Meiji Tsukurou Kinoko no Yama): I saw this item in an Asian market for $4.25. This DIY reminds me a lot like the Kabaya Panda DIY from the March box.

Puzzle & Dragons x Bikkuriman Wafer

Puzzle & Dragons x Bikkuriman Wafer (Lotte Puzzdra Man Choco): Basically the same as Kami Bikkuriman Wafer from April 2015's Japan Crate. The description said it includes a card, but it's a sticker.

Crayon Shin-Chan Candy (Orion Crayon Shinchan Color Ramune): Is this suppose to have flavor? This tasted like nothing to me... The ramune taste is there when you get past the hardness, but it doesn't really have much flavor though... But I did like how you pull Shin-Chan's pants down to get a candy. xD

Pokemon Puzzle Gum

Pokemon Puzzle Gum (Top Pokemon Eawase Sticker Gum): It's nice to see a Pokemon item, but it's basically one of the Mario Kart Gum, just with a puzzle sticker included.

**[This item belongs in the Premium]** Soda Mixing Jelly Beans ()

Premium Item Content:

Creamy Melon Soda (Sangaria Fuwatto Melon Cream Soda)

Japanese BBQ Scones (Koikeya Scorn Wafu Barbecue): I think I'll keep thanking Japan Crate for including a bag of chips in their boxes.

Wow, Such Banana? ()

**[This item belongs in the Original] (Meiji Sangto Awa Awa Candy)

Overall: I think I should visit the Asian market more often and take photos of the items that are in the Crates. Since the Chocoroom DIY was $4.25, it makes me wonder how much are the other items too, and if this box is worth $30.

First look 2

Mini Item Contents:

Chameleon Candy (): These are grape covered hard candy. The inside consists one of three flavors: strawberry, orange, and apple (?)

Potekoro Cubes (): Taste like potato chips, with a really strong black pepper taste. But it also reminds me of croutons.

Chu Grape Jelly ()

Maken Gummy (): I got grape flavored rock and star gummies. It's not bad, but it tastes like medicine... :(

Original Item Content:

Animal Drawing Sherbet DIY ()

Lifeguard Paste (): Three packets of this, or rather three packets of sugar...

Adzuki Mizu Yokan (Imuraya Oan Mizuyoukan Ogura [Hopefully I got this correct]): ***It's really sweet***This is in a can. It tastes great! I wish I had ice cream to put this on :(. Tastes better when cold imo.

Choco Bar Z Kinako (): Whoa this was soaked in soy flour? It sort of tastes like peanut butter.

Premium Item Content:

Kids Beer ():  It's non alcoholic! For more description of the item, it says to look at page 6.

Kaijiri Chew (): Tastes like cola alright. Take your time or share the taffy.

Sour Lemon Gum ():

Corn Potage Chips (Yaokin Corn Potage) (Bonus Item): On their booklet, they typed Com Potage Chips, haha. You know how most chip bags are half air and half chips? This one has A LOT. This tastes like corn soup with a tint of seaweed.

And here's a picture of everything!

And opening the box, you'll see this!

June 2015 First look 2

June 2015 Comic

June 2015 Item List

Mini Item Contents:

Ramune Marble

White Chocolate Big Bar Z: The first time I saw the chocolate version, I was skeptical about it, but it tasted great! So when I saw a white chocolate version in this box, I was happy. And yes, it tasted great! (: Edit: 8/16/15 I just found this in an Asian market for $1.45.

Little Gang Grape: Okay... the title... I'm not the only one who read it differently, right? The gum package does say Little Gang, and it's grape flavored...

Red Potion/Black Potion: Eat either the red/black gum, and your tongue will be red/black!

Soy Sauce Mochi/Snow Pea Chips (Calbee Sayaendo Sappari Shio Aji): I got the Snow Pea Chips and it's great. Ate the whole bag. :D

Original Item Content:

Choco Kinako Mochi DIY (Coris Choco Kinako Mochi)

Kirby Blend-Blend Mix Gum (Marukawa Hosahi no Carby Mix Gum): There is a variety of flavored gum (yogurt, soda, orange, and a flavor I don't know...). You can eat two/three flavors of the gum at once to create a new flavor (e.g. orange+the flavor I don't know+soda gives you cola flavored gum). Watch out for the gray ones! They don't really have a taste to it.

Matcha Green Tea Pejoy: Meh. These are alright. These are just wafer rolls filled with green tea flavor.

Talking Puppy Chocolate: This tastes like a Crunch bar, just less sweeter. When you open from the back, there is a dog card (mine was a Pomeranian), with a heat detected bubble. Rub it, and you'll a get a Japanese line (which answers the question on the other side of the card).

Premium Item Content:

Kawaii Ramune (Sangaria Kawaii Ramune): I think I'm done with the ramune drinks and anything with ramune in general.

Magic Bubble Jelly DIY (Meiji Majic Awa Jelly Grape):

Happy Paws Gummy (Senjaku Nikukyu Gummy Peach): If you like gummy peach rings, you'll definitely enjoy this! (It's not sour though)

Choco Banana Pocky: No. Just no. If you like bananas, you'll probably enjoy this.

Matcha Green Tea Kit Kats: It would be nice one day if we can get a full bag, haha. But a bag of Matcha Green Tea Kit Kats (or any other special Kit Kat flavor) is quite expensive (almost $10 a bag!).

Totoro figure (Bonus Item): This time, the bonus item is a figure from the anime, My Neighbor Totoro. This is one of the ten figures you can get (the camera got a sharper view of the plastic instead of Totoro. :(). Japan Crate also has an event for this!

And here's a picture of everything and the bottom of the box!

If you've subscribed to Japan Crate, what Totoro figure did you get?

May 2015 Content List

May 2015 Comic

Mini Content

Umashi Oasi Cheetos (Japan FritoLay Cheetos Umashio): CHIPS, CHIPS, CHIPS! YAY. Although there's a bag of chips in this box, it didn't really have much flavor.

Yaokin Maple Hot Cakes (Yaokin Hot Cake Maple Syrup): Definitely tasted like pancakes with syrup!

Ginbisu Chocolate Bar Z (Ginbis Choco Bar Z): Tastes like a chocolate covered wafer. The texture is like the Glico Kapuriko.

Chocolate in Disguise (Chirin Hensou Choco)You can alter the four facec by pulling up or pushing down the tab (shown by the arrow). The chocolate is in a bag, so don't worry about them falling out. The chocolate comes in variety of color. Japan Crate will be posting a guide about each character on their blog. Japan Crate has posted the readings here.

Original Content

Corocoro Animal DIY (Meiji Korokoro Animal):

WakuWaku Zukan Gummy (Kabaya Wakuwaku Zukan Gummy Kaeru): This didn't have enough flavor in my opinion.

Gyogyogyogamu Gum (Marukawa Gyo Gyo Gyo Gum):

Strawberry Chocolate (Shoei Delicy Ichigo Choco): Take your time eating this chocolate. It's good, but it's a spoonful of sugar in your mouth. The color spoon I got was green, with a three-leaf clover on it. Japan Crate will be posting a fortune translation post soon on their site. Japan Crate has posted the readings here.

Premium Content

Hajikete Cider: This is basically a ramune drink.

Kabaya Tukuttemiyo Ju-C (Kabaya Tsukettemiyo Ju C): I've received this in September 2014 Japan Crate (not in box form).

Beware the Sour Grapes: I've received the Cola flavor in October 2014 Japan Crate.

Bread Keychain (Bonus Item): It really does smell like bread. Not really interested in this key chain though.

Overall: Nice to see that there was chips here this time! Two of the items were repeats.

If you've subscribed to Japan Crate, what do you think of the snacks this month?
